Artwork
Jestina Mukoko’s portrait is inspired by the long history and early mastery of stone sculpture in Zimbabwe. Shona sculpture, as it’s commonly called, is named after a large tribe of artisans. Zimbabwe is derived from the Shona word dzimba-dza-mabwe, meaning ‘house of stone’. Flowing, organic lines and cubist planes are definitive of the Shona style.
